The events aim to strengthen prevention efforts in Latin America by fostering the use of scientifically proven strategies.<\/p>\n<p>The first event is a European Prevention Curriculum (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.euda.europa.eu\/best-practice\/european-prevention-curriculum-eupc_en\" data-entity-substitution=\"canonical\" data-entity-type=\"node\" data-entity-uuid=\"db1fa00f-b0ef-4c21-9661-df284259868f\">EUPC<\/a>) basic training course, being delivered in Portuguese to Brazilian prevention experts (27\u201328 August). The Portuguese version of the course, adapted to the Brazilian context, was a joint initiative of the European Society for Prevention Research (EUSPR), the EUDA, the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/copolad.eu\/en\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">COPOLAD III<\/a>. It is the first of three culturally adapted editions developed under the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.euda.europa.eu\/activities\/copolad_en\">EUDA-COPOLAD III partnership<\/a>\u00a0and aimed at countries in Latin America and the Caribbean. The first pilot culturally adapted training in Portuguese was delivered in\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.euda.europa.eu\/news\/2023\/first-culturally-adapted-eupc-training-course-portuguese-delivered-brazil_en\" data-entity-substitution=\"canonical\" data-entity-type=\"node\" data-entity-uuid=\"b994666d-ff2a-4916-a33b-46487f81835c\">September 2023<\/a>. Spanish and English versions have also been piloted, with three online trainings held in June and July 2024.<\/p>\n<p>This week&#8217;s course is being attended by 23 participants from various regions and cities in Brazil, including: Acre, Amap\u00e1, Cear\u00e1, Distrito Federal\/Bras\u00edlia, Esp\u00edrito Santo, Para\u00edba, Piau\u00ed, Rio Grande do Norte, S\u00e3o Paulo and Tocantins.<\/p>\n<p>On 29 August, the organisations will also be hosting an international evidence-based prevention forum involving researchers and policymakers from Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Peru and Uruguay. This event will discuss the issue of combatting misinformation and misleading claims about prevention interventions. It is designed to help close the gap between prevention science and practice and avoid the financing of ineffective or harmful programmes.<\/p>\n<p>A highlight of the forum will be the official launch of\u00a0<i><a href=\"https:\/\/www.euda.europa.eu\/best-practice\/evidenciaviva_es\" data-entity-substitution=\"canonical\" data-entity-type=\"node\" data-entity-uuid=\"0a752d9d-2493-47f2-93ab-cda82455d64e\">EvidenciaViva<\/a>,\u00a0<\/i>an online registry\u00a0 of evaluated prevention interventions in the countries of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC). Modelled after the EUDA&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.euda.europa.eu\/best-practice\/xchange_en\">Xchange registry<\/a>,\u00a0<i>EvidenciaViva<\/i>\u00a0will be available in Spanish and Portuguese on the EUDA website. The forum will also explore the impact of various classification systems used in national and international registries, while promoting narratives that support the adoption of evaluated and effective evidence-based public policy interventions.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"content-footer content-item mt-4 hide-pdf\">\n<div class=\"my-3\">\n<div class=\"field field--name-field-news-notes field--type-text-long field--label-above info-lighter\">\n<h2 class=\"field__label h6 mb-3\">Notes<\/h2>\n<p><span class=\"field__item\"><i>The EUPC is a training curriculum in science-based prevention for decision-, opinion-, or policy-makers\u00a0<\/i><i>(DOPs) at local, regional or national level.
