COPOLAD III continues to promote technical dialogue on drug policies, creating a privileged space for interaction between Latin America, the Caribbean and Europe to analyse and discuss all the challenges related to their design and implementation, with the possibility of initiating transformative processes and of innovation aimed at improving the effectiveness of the interventions and, at the same time, avoiding negative impacts on results for sustainable development.
In this regard, the programme offers the foundation for supporting the generation of policies on drugs that are more focused on people, especially on the most vulnerable. It is based on scientific evidence, comprehensive, balanced and consistent with the rest of public policies and, as a result, more effective. These objectives will be fully respectful of the national sovereignty of each country and will be based on the demand raised by the participating countries themselves.
