At the end of July, 16 experts from five Latin American countries (Argentina, Bolivia, Paraguay, Uruguay and Venezuela) participated in an online training course on the European Prevention Curriculum (EUPC). This is the first time that the European Monitoring Centre for Drugs and Drug Addiction (EMCDDA) has delivered an EUPC training course in this language for this region.
In the framework of its partnership with the COPOLAD III program, EMCDDA is preparing with the participants a culturally adapted version of the EUPC basic training course for Latin America and the Caribbean. These versions will be available in Spanish, English and Portuguese.
The EUPC is a science-based prevention training program for local, regional or national decision-makers, opinion-makers or policy-makers. It aims to boost the implementation and adoption of modern and effective preventive approaches, and to facilitate informed decisions on funding and implementation priorities.
Additional basic training courses in English, Spanish and Portuguese are planned for 2023.
About COPOLAD III
EMCDDA became a collaborating partner of COPOLAD III in July 2022. The program promotes bi-regional dialogue and cooperation on drug policy between the European Union and Latin American and Caribbean countries. Funded by the EU, the program is led by the International Ibero-American Foundation for the Development of Latin America and the Caribbean.
