On Wednesday 5 October, the COPOLAD III Programme co-organised together with the Embassy of Bolivia in Belgium a meeting with 26 diplomatic representations of Latin American and Caribbean countries in Brussels.
The objective of the meeting was to plan the work for the coming months based on the priorities agreed at the high-level meeting of the EU-CELAC Coordination and Cooperation Mechanism on Drugs held in June in Asunción, Paraguay.
The meeting was an excellent opportunity to set priorities and outline the roadmap until the high-level meeting of the Mechanism that will take place in the second half of 2023 under the Spanish Presidency of the EU. It also served to update the status of COPOLAD and the lines of action implemented in coordination with the countries of the region.
The EU-CELAC Coordination and Cooperation Mechanism on Drugs is a political structure that brings together countries from both regions to promote the improvement of drug policies. The COPOLAD Programme is a tool for the Mechanism to provide technical and operational support and scientific evidence for debate and decision-making.
