The importance of precursors and controlled chemicals in the fight against drug trafficking stems from the fact that most drugs, whether plant-based or synthetic, require these chemicals to be involved in the transformation process that results in the final product. Precursors are therefore one of the necessary elements for the clandestine manufacture of plant-based drugs and are indispensable components in the illicit manufacture of synthetic drugs.
The main purpose of this workshop is to consolidate the lessons learned and conclusions drawn from the precursor phase, transforming them into a concrete and collaborative action plan that promotes long-term objectives. To this end, the workshop will focus on two essential pillars:
•Thoroughly analysing the results obtained in this line of work on precursors, identifying successes, key lessons learned and areas of opportunity.
•Collectively defining the steps that can be taken in the future, establishing a clear and actionable roadmap that allows us to move forward with confidence and determination. This involves formulating strategies, assigning responsibilities and identifying the resources needed to implement future phases.
