First online session of the Working Group 3.5 Proportionality of criminal law on drugs

We are excited to start the activities of component 3.5. Improved results for the sustainable development of supply control policies. The objective of this line of work is to support improvements in the response and proportionality of penal frameworks to drug-related challenges. This work will involve support to those countries that require specific support in the discussion and review of

  • criminal legislation,
  • the proportionality of the law for crimes and drug trafficking,
  • the development of alternatives to arrest and imprisonment linked to social, health and economic inclusion programs to prevent recidivism in drug-related crimes.

The innovation tools of the program will be used to generate innovative intervention proposals in this last area.

We inform you that on December 20th, the first session of the Working Group 3.5 Proportionality of criminal law on drugs and the development of alternatives to arrest or imprisonment will take place from 15.30-17 Madrid time (CET).

We take this opportunity to present the Task Forces that will be coordinating this Working Group. Elena Higueras, Public Policy Consultant will be in charge of the management and Beatriz López Lorca, specialist in international criminal law at UCLM, will provide her expertise for issues related to criminal frameworks.
